Hey everyone! Quick update today!
Surveys close on May 1, 2023, which means there are 3 DAYS REMAINING to lock in, update, or alter your pledge on Backerkit. I'll be sending a 48-hour warning through Backerkit tomorrow. There are 6 people who still need to do so. Amazon doesn't allow me to order paperback copies until the book is officially released on their website. Here's the current timeline plan:
The eBook formatting is complete! I'll be going through it this week to check for any last-minute details. Cat did a fantastic job preserving the same feel as the paperback. The eBook version also features the full pro tips in all their colored, pixelated glory!
Lynx (Cat) has served as the sole editor and formatter for the paperback and eBook versions of Everyone's a Catgirl! Volume 1. Her work and participation in the community (food channel, streaming as Ravyn, mod assistance, and more) are beyond incredible.
Ry had surgery this month, and the healing time and procedure cost have been a huge financial burden on them both. If you have the means and are comfortable doing so, I'm requesting donations on their behalf to get them back on their feet.

We're at 85% completion for BackerKit surveys! Thanks to everyone who's filled it out! There are 15 people left who still need to lock in their rewards. Please remember that surveys will close on May 1, 2023. You have until then to make changes or update your information.

We received the first paperback in the mail today. Cat and I are very happy with the formatting, font choices, and how the illustrations turned out. I'll explain what will be changing with each photo.
The cover looks perfect. The names of the contributors are slightly off-center, so Cat cleaned that up today.
This is way too big on all fronts, and there are way too many words. We shortened the quote up top and shrank everything else. Here's a screenshot of what the adjusted cover will look like:
Now for the inside. Here's a preview of the chapter headings and different fonts at work:
And the cat ears as the scene breaks look great!
One major change in this next draft is the text size. We're dropping it from 12 to 11. Why? Well, for one:
The book is enormous. Size 12 Times New Roman makes for a 500 pg tome. By taking it down one size, we cut over 70 pages out.
Second, when comparing it to other fantasy paperbacks, size 12 feels huge. It should help all around.
As for the illustrations, they look beautiful. Amazon's printing quality is great for black and white:
Cat and I will both be going through it with a red pen while we wait for beta reader feedback. The next (and hopefully final) draft copy will be ordered next weekend.
Everyone who backed this project at $5 or more will receive the eBook version of Volume 1 a week before its official release on June 2nd! So long as merchandise shipping goes smoothly, I should have physical backer rewards shipping out right around the same time.
Volume 2 is scheduled to release on August 18th. We'll be steadily working on it and the paperback version once all Kickstarter rewards have been fulfilled!
